Driving from Bristol: motorway or cross-country

Both route planners leave Bristol on the M32 and M4 and head north on the M5. After that they part company: OSRM leaves the motorway for the A46 and A45 and approaches Rugby on the A4071, while Valhalla stays on the M5, M42 and M6 to Junction 1. The two totals were more than 17 miles apart, so the only distance we give is the straight line, about 86 miles.

Parking at the hotel is free: six on-site spaces with CCTV, given out in order of arrival, plus Railway Terrace itself, where parking costs nothing between 18:00 and 08:00.

Why stay rather than travel back the same day

Four and a half hours of trains in one day leaves little time for whatever brought you to Rugby. A room makes sense for a visit to Rugby School or a run of hospital shifts.

After a day that started at Temple Meads

When you get in from Bristol, there’s a kitchenette in the room for a late meal and a free guest laundry on the first floor for the next day’s clothes. There are 16 rooms to pick from, pictured in the room gallery. If your stay stretches to a week, a weekly clean is included; the fine print lives in our terms for guests.
