Dudley has not had a railway station of its own since 1964. Coming to Rugby by train means starting at Dudley Port, which despite its name lies in Tipton, about a mile and a half north-east of the town centre, and changing at Birmingham New Street. By road, the M5 and M6 turn it into one steady drive of about 45 miles.
