Only the 14-past train goes direct

On Tuesday 15 September 2026, direct trains left Piccadilly at 09:14, 10:14, 11:14 and 18:14 and each took 1 hour 19 minutes; the 19:14 and 22:14 took a few minutes more. In the evening several other combinations appeared, via Crewe, Warrington Bank Quay or Stafford, but none beat the direct train.

If you miss a direct train, the 34-past service via Nuneaton reaches Rugby a few minutes before the next direct one. Check live times on National Rail Enquiries.

Driving from Manchester

This is one of the simpler drives: both route planners take the A5103 and M56 out of the city, then the M6 south all the way to Junction 1, where the A426 leads into Rugby. They put the distance at 113 and 114 miles.

There’s free parking on site for six cars, allocated in order of arrival and covered by CCTV, and Railway Terrace is free to park on overnight.

Day trip or overnight?

An hour and twenty minutes on the direct train puts Rugby in day-trip range of Manchester. Staying makes sense when the reason for the visit lasts several days, like an engineering placement at MIRA Technology Park or contract electrical work.

Staying a week or more

Longer stays are where the rooms come into their own: each of the 16 has a kitchenette, the first-floor laundry is free for guests, and housekeeping comes weekly once you book seven nights. Browse the rooms and the guest guide and hotel policies.
